University of Southampton Theatre Group

About Theatre Group

Theatre Group is the University of Southampton's theatre society. We are the society for anyone who loves live theatre, be it acting, directing or simply going to see shows. Theatre Group produces an extensive programme of shows throughout the year which are staged in a number of venues in Southampton, and we take a variety of shows on tour to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. Additionally we run regular workshops on a range of topics such as acting technique, directing and improvisation. We welcome all Southampton University students who have a passion for theatre.

How Can I Join?

First, you need to be cast in any of our productions - keep watching this website for details of upcoming auditions. Second, you need to be a member of the Performing Arts Union, which costs just £3 from the SUSU Box Office. Then it's just £5 to join Theatre Group, which covers your insurance for performing on stage. This can be paid to your Director/Producer or any member of the Theatre Group committee. Of course, you don't have to be a member to take part in Theatre Group's weekly workshops - everyone's welcome, and they're a great way to find out more about what we do. And don't forget: the Freshers' Play isn't just for first years, but all newcomers to the group!
